The rooms at WUJS are comfortable but very simple.
Each room's kitchen has: a sink, a refrigerator and a two-burner hotplate.
It has a few cupboards. Each room has its own bathroom with a shower.
Your sleeping area has two beds, two desks, two chairs and a table.
The walls are cement which means they are quiet but you can't use
thumb-tacks to hang posters.
WUJS is located in a merkaz klita (absorption center) building.
You are given the minimum that you will need for your room: a tea
kettle, a pot, a frying pan, two cups, two forks, two knifes, and
two spoons, pillows and linen. There is a small space heater in the
room. Winter nights in Arad can be quite chilly. Many students buy
more things for their room at the shuk (open-air market) that happens
in Arad every Monday or at any of the local stores. I didn't find
any of the prices for things I bought for my room outrageous. But
if you think ahead and bring things with you then you won't have to
spend your first week shopping. This is a good idea for people who
don't speak Hebrew and aren't familiar with Israeli money.
Things you may want to buy your first week or bring with you:
pots and pans
forks, spoons etc.
a radio/alarm clock that runs on 220v
a 110v to 220v converter and a US type plug multiplier
posters/tapestries
